The Dakota Ridge Eagles had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 63-28 victory over Brighton. That's another feather in the cap for Dakota Ridge, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Dakota Ridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hannah Galbreath, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maryn Talyat, who scored 14 points along with 8 assists and 6 steals.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haleyanna Martin, who scored 12 points. Laila Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Dakota Ridge's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dakota Ridge will challenge Castle View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Douglas County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday.
