After flying high against the Lake View Chiefs on Tuesday, the Greenwood Rangers came back down to earth. Greenwood fell 74-62 to Lubbock-Cooper on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greenwood in their matchups with Lubbock-Cooper: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Greenwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tatum Pierce. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. Pierce scored a full 41.9% of Greenwood's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ty Presley was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Greenwood's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Lubbock-Cooper, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8.
Greenwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Lubbock-Cooper, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Abilene at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Abilene's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
