Gordon-Rushville is 2-8 against Alliance since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs will be playing at home against the Alliance Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Gordon-Rushville is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-46 heartbreaker at the hands of Cody-Kilgore.
Despite their loss, Gordon-Rushville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Daniel Martins, who posted eight points in addition to nine assists and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Maddox Leeper, who put up eight points and six boards.
Martins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Gordon-Rushville was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Alliance's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 65-48 bruising from Chadron.
Gordon-Rushville will have to contain Seth Meyring as he made an impact in Alliance's last game. He dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. Meyring's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Espen Lanik was another key player, putting up ten points and seven boards.
Gordon-Rushville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Alliance, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gordon-Rushville has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 26.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Alliance struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Gordon-Rushville was taken down by Alliance 73-18 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gordon-Rushville was down 53-9.
