Mount Everett Regional hasn't had much luck against Mount Greylock Regional recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Mounties at 4:00 p.m. Mount Everett Regional will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Mount Everett Regional got the win against Lenox Memorial by a conclusive 11-1.
Mount Greylock Regional never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Wahconah Regional on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Warriors. The Mounties' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Malcolm Leyda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Eli Kristensen and Cole Creighton did most of the damage at the plate: Kristensen got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Creighton got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those RBI were Creighton's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emery Rotter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Mount Greylock Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mount Everett Regional's record is now 3-0. As for Mount Greylock Regional, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
