The Franklin County Flyers will take on the Holy Cross Cougars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Franklin County will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Great Crossing, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Madison McCoy made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Franklin County got a massive performance out of Emma Olds, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Avery Lofton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Holy Cross, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Bullitt Central an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Holy Cross needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Piersan Shrader was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Priddy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Holy Cross is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .383. However, it's not like Holy Cross struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin County took their win against Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
