Softball Recap: Anderson County Has No Trouble Against Shelby County

Anderson County won the last time they faced Shelby County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bearcats put the hurt on the Rockets with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Anderson County got a massive performance out of Emma Stevens, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Stevens has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Wooldridge, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Anderson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelby County only posted an OBP of .304.

The win made it two in a row for Anderson County and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Shelby County, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Anderson County will welcome Woodford County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Shelby County, they will head out on the road to square off against Trimble County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
