The Elite Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to St. Helena 64-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lemack Bellot, who scored 18 points. Bellot's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Amir Goss was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Elite's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for St. Helena, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
Elite won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Leroy Greene Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Leroy Greene Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 991st, while Elite is ranked 424th). As for St. Helena, they will be playing at home against Clear Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Clear Lake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
