Carmichaels and West Greene are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Mighty Mikes will venture away from home to square off against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Carmichaels has five wins , while West Greene has seven dating back to last season).
Carmichaels' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Avella with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Mighty Mikes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Bailey Barnyak was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ke'Lani Chun was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Ashton Batis also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Carmichaels kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Greene made easy work of Mapletown on Wednesday and carried off a 10-0 win. The Pioneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.
Like Carmichaels, West Greene also got a great game from a two-way player: Payton Gilbert. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Gilbert was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Tharp, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kendra Tharp, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
West Greene's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carmichaels, their record now sits at 5-0.
Both Carmichaels and West Greene just can't seem to miss. The Mighty Mikes have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like West Greene struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carmichaels came out on top in a nail-biter against West Greene in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mighty Mikes since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
