The Newport - Bellevue Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 71-50 defeat at the hands of Issaquah. Newport - Bellevue was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-23.
Despite the loss, Newport - Bellevue still got an impressive performance from Jace Rainey, who scored 21 points. That was a full 42% of Newport - Bellevue's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Justin Seng was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Newport - Bellevue bumped their record down to 2-16 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Issaquah, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newport - Bellevue will challenge Mount Si at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Si has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 612 points over their last eight contests. As for Issaquah, they will head out on the road to challenge Eastlake at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastlake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 295th, while Issaquah is ranked 104th).
