Martin County found their leader in underclassman Jordan Matthewson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Tayvon Lee was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Martin County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Perquimans, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Martin County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Edgecombe at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Averaging 73.5 so far this season, North Edgecombe's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Martin County better be ready for a challenge. As for Perquimans, they will head out on the road to face off against Tarboro at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
