If the Brimley Bays were feeling good off their 69-33 takedown of the St. Mary Eagles last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Brimley ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-48 walloping at the hands of Rudyard on Thursday. Brimley has struggled against Rudyard recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Brimley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Perry LeBlanc. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. The game was LeBlanc's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jay Tagerson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Brimley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Rudyard, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brimley will square off against Newberry at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Newberry comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Rudyard will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Manistique on December 27th.
