Basketball Recap: Good Samaritan Homeschool Falls Despite Big Games from Eli Shannon and Dominic Fogo

If Good Samaritan HomeSchool was riding high fresh off their 68-26 takedown of Burkeville on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets fell to the Bob Hope Eagles 54-48. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hornets came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Eagles are ranked 696th).

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's loss on Saturday came despite strong showings from Dominic Fogo and Eli Shannon. Fogo went 8 of 19 en route to 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Shannon went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and six rebounds. Fogo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Spears, who posted six points.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 15-2. As for Bob Hope, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Good Samaritan HomeSchool will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Community Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 21, 2025. Bob Hope will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Texas Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
