After a string of four wins, the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-28 loss at the hands of Lower Richland. Orangeburg-Wilkinson has struggled against Lower Richland recently, as their contest on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Joliyah Robinson was Orangeburg-Wilkinson's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Robinson also led the team in assists with three. She held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lower Richland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jhnai Sumter, who almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Sumter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chi?nya Isaac, who scored 20 points along with five assists and two steals.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3. As for Lower Richland, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson will head out on the road to challenge Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert is on a five-game streak of home wins, Orangeburg-Wilkinson a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Lower Richland will take on Dreher at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dreher comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
