Sterling Brown ran for two touchdowns and
Noah Samsen added two as well as
Gig Harbor (Wash.) beat Yelm (Wash.) 56-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Connor Scanlan touchdown pass to
Cody Alcott in the first quarter, the Tides were up 49-7 at the half.
Gig Harbor expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. GH's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Davis Alexander.
The Tides raced to 28 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.
Gig Harbor's most effective player was Scanlan. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
GH entered the contest giving up 18.4 points per game this year.
The Tides avenged last year's 17-12 loss to the Tornadoes with the victory.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Yelm.
In a 4A Narrows game next week Gig Harbor (7-1) takes on Bellarmine Prep, and Yelm (3-5) will go up against Olympia also in a 4A Narrows game.
