Madison extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-12-1 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Scotts Hill Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Monday.

Ryker Stegall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Madison's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 10-11-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Garrett Clark, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Scotts Hill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-14-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Scotts Hill's side, Cy Maness made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Maness has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Silas Howard was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Jackson Crider was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Madison will face off against Greenfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Scotts Hill, they will head out on the road to challenge Hardin County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
