The Greer Middle College Blazers were the 32-25 winner over the Chesnee Eagles when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Greer Middle College's tough 49-28 loss to the Eagles on Tuesday might stick with them for a while.
Chesnee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pearl Holloway, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Dunn, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Greer Middle College dropped their record down to 5-14 with that loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.1 points per game. As for Chesnee, their victory bumped their record up to 4-20.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greer Middle College will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Blacksburg presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Blazers in South Carolina (the Wildcats are ranked 106th, while the Blazers are ranked 248th). As for Chesnee, they will head out on the road to face off against the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
