The Colusa RedHawks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Winters with points to spare, taking the game 35-20. For Colusa, this counts as revenge for the 31-26 defeat Winters walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
William McCoy had a dynamite game for Colusa, rushing for 192 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 43 receiving yards. Bo Coronado was another key contributor, throwing for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
Winters' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sebastian Rodriguez, who rushed for 161 yards on only 15 carries. Rodriguez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Brown, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Colusa's victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Durham and 2-7 Willows (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.1% over those games). As for Winters, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
Colusa will head out on the road to face off against East Nicolaus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winters, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pierce at 7:30 p.m.
