Even though the Medford Tech Jaguars scored an imposing 70 points on Monday, the Hammonton Blue Devils still came out on top. Hammonton took their matchup against the Jaguars 78-70. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hammonton.
Medford Tech lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tre Powell, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Powell has been hot recently, having posted 25 or more points the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Branson, who scored eight points along with five assists and five steals.
Hammonton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Medford Tech, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammonton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Fighting Clan at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. Vineland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 112th). As for Medford Tech, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the at 4:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Doane Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Sunday.
