For the second straight game, Harvey will face off against Kirtland. The Red Raiders will host the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harvey has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Harvey couldn't beat Kirtland on Tuesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the fourth inning. The Red Raiders came up short against the Hornets, falling 19-9.
For Kirtland's part, Xavier Lasecki was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Lasecki a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Ben Difranco and Tyler Turk did most of the damage at the plate: Difranco went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Turk went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Turk a new career-high. Carter Luzar was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Kirtland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Harvey now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Kirtland, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Harvey has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kirtland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
