Baseball Recap: Northridge Has No Trouble Against Sky View

Northridge won the last time they faced Sky View and things went their way on Saturday too. Everything went the Northridge Knights' way against the Sky View Bobcats as the Northridge Knights made off with a 17-5 win. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jon Olsen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Olsen was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kam Shirreffs, who fired off three triples, six RBI, and two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Small also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Northridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sky View only posted an OBP of .417.

The victory got Northridge back to even at 2-2. As for Sky View, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northridge is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against Granger at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Sky View, they will venture away from home to face off against Timpview at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Sky View has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
