The Lewistown Indians suffered their biggest defeat since November 13, 2023 on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 63-37 defeat at the hands of Illini Bluffs. While losing is never fun, Lewistown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Illini Bluffs is ranked 74th).
Lewistown lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lexi Kruzan, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Kruzan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Makenna Johnson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Lewistown's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Illini Bluffs, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 20-3.
Lewistown will be playing at home against Brimfield at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Illini Bluffs, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Pulaski at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Pulaski is on a five-game streak of home wins, Illini Bluffs a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
