Basketball Recap: Northside's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak on the Road

On Saturday, Northside faced Springdale in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Northside Grizzlies fell just short of the Springdale Bulldogs by a score of 55-52. The Grizzlies have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Northside lost, don't look at Erianna Gooden. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. Gooden has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazley Grotjohn, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Northside's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Springdale, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rogers the next time they take the court. Northside will head out to face Rogers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Springdale will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
