Crosby has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Torrington Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Crosby's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Crosby pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waterbury Career Academy. Crosby has not had much luck with Waterbury Career Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Crosby might have lost, but man, Daniel Melendez was a machine: he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Melendez hasn't dropped below 17 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Ellis, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Torrington waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 73-63 win over Naugatuck. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Torrington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Parkhouse led the charge by scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Parkhouse is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 21 or more in the last three games he's played. Isaac Fenn was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Crosby's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Torrington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Crosby have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 42.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Torrington struggles in that department as they've made 46.7% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Crosby's way against Torrington in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Crosby made off with a 57-35 win. Will Crosby repeat their success, or does Torrington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
