It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Denver East Angels had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past Mullen with points to spare, taking the game 23-7. The win was familiar territory for Denver East who now have six in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Sean Campbell, who rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Denver East's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. DJ Crowe was especially locked on to Mullen's QB and sacked him three times.
Denver East pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.33 points. As for Mullen, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Denver East will head out on the road to face off against Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jonathan Coar and Campbell. Mullen does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
