Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Rio Vista Rams proved on Friday. They walked away with a 57-46 win over Denair.
Ashlynd Rhett was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The game was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Perkins, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Denair saw an underclassman step up: Koby Cervantes dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Cervantes scored a full 32.6% of Denair's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Landen Borges was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory got Rio Vista back to even at 7-7. As for Denair, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Rio Vista and Golden Sierra will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Golden Sierra is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Denair won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Delta Charter at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th. Delta Charter is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
