The Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran Cadets will venture away from home to take on the Churubusco Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran came up short against Fort Wayne Northrop and fell 10-5.
Raelyn Koesters made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Abagail Weaver was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Churubusco entered their tilt with Westview on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Warriors. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Emma Walters and Alyssa Marks made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Walters tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Marks pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Walters went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Marks went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Walters has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Grace Lawson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Fleetwood, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Churubusco always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Churubusco's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran came out on top in a nail-biter against Churubusco when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
