You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the McKenzie Tigers's strategy against the Opp Bobcats on Thursday. McKenzie came out on top against Opp by a score of 62-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McKenzie.
McKenzie's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists. Jaylen Mcmillian was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Opp lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josh Smith, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Ballard, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
McKenzie's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Opp, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKenzie won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pleasant Home at 7:15 p.m. on January 26th. As for Opp, they will head out on the road to square off against Brantley at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Brantley's favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home while Opp has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road.
