After a string of four wins, the Fairfax Christian Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost to Rock Creek Christian Academy on the road by a decisive 68-53 margin. Fairfax Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Alex Mostashari and Nijel Howard certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Mostashari scored 15 points, while Howard scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ke'Juan Richburg, who scored six points along with six assists.
Corwin Holland II was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six rebounds for Rock Creek Christian Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Barnes, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Fairfax Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 26-6. As for Rock Creek Christian Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfax Christian will take on the Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springdale Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 92nd in Maryland, while the Cardinals are ranked sixth in Virginia). As for Rock Creek Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rosedale Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
