AAA District 8 recap September 24, 2013
Lincoln County scaled the state rankings by moving to 100 from 146 this week, the biggest jump in AAA District 8. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of topping Columbia Central 30-13.
Shelbyville Central fell to Franklin 41-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lawrence County's dynamic duo of A.J. Long and Hunter Smith proved tough for Coffee County Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Long threw for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns and Smith had 92 yards receiving.
The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Long and Smith proved to be unstoppable against the Red Raiders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Smith was the best wideout in the league this week as Lawrence County bested Coffee County Central.
Long put up the best numbers in passing as David Marston's team topped Lee Davis' team.
August Hill was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 220 yards on 20 carries as Lincoln County defeated the Red Raiders. Teammate Ryan Golden added to the ground attack by rushing for 162 yards.
Hill was a passing and rushing force as Don Thomas' team defeated the Lions. Hill's key target this week was Brandon Gower, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.
Hill was a force in the backfield as the Falcons beat Columbia Central.
6-foot-2 quarterback Hunter Myers of Tullahoma is the league leader in passing yards this season with 945. He has also thrown 5 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Eddings. The Shelbyville Central star has 18 catches for 441 yards.
Lawrence County led AAA District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Coffee County Central. Long during the win.
