Softball Recap: Samson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Elba

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Samson). They put the hurt on Elba with a sharp 23-8 win on Tuesday. That's two games straight that Samson has won by exactly 15 runs.

Emma Sormrude was a standout: she scored four runs and stole seven bases while going 3-for-4. Those seven stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Glisson, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.

Sormrude wasn't the only one making solid contact: Samson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. Samson is 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Samson and bumps their season record up to 6-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Elba, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Samson will challenge Red Level at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elba, they will take on Brantley at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
