West Grand enjoyed a cozy 45-28 win over North Park on Friday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as West Grand did.
Makaila Gifford continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Taylor Martinson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, North Park still got an impressive performance from Dezirae Gonzales, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 75% of North Park's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
West Grand's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for North Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
West Grand will head out on the road to square off against Vail Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Vail Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North Park, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Rangely at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Rangely is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
