The Union Grove Christian Patriots waltzed into their contest Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 62-53 win over Alamance Christian. That's another feather in the cap for Union Grove Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Union Grove Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Colin Wykes led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five assists. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Wykes has scored at least 25% of Union Grove Christian's points. Hayden Michalak was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Union Grove Christian pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Alamance Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Grove Christian will square off against Wilson Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wilson Christian Academy is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Alamance Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Cramerton Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cramerton Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
