The Muskogee Roughers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Southmoore with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 43-27. Muskogee pushed the score to 36-16 by the end of the third, a deficit Southmoore cut but never quite recovered from.
Muskogee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malaysia Burton, who scored 21 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Burton has scored at least a third of Muskogee's points. D'mya Brown was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Muskogee's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Southmoore, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Muskogee will take on Bartlesville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Bartlesville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Muskogee surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southmoore, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Broken Arrow at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Broken Arrow is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
