The Harrison Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the West Clermont Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Harrison is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Milan just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Reagan Nowlin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Clermont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Winton Woods get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Monday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Kloe Cartwright and October Von Bargen made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Cartwright tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Von Bargen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cartwright has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cartwright went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Von Bargen got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave Cartwright a new career-high.
In other batting news, West Clermont got a massive performance out of Braylin Cornell, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Cornell a new career-high. Skylar Rudd was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
West Clermont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .621. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for West Clermont, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Harrison hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like West Clermont struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
