The SkyView Academy Hawks had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Gilpin County at home to the tune of 86-12. SkyView Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.
SkyView Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Coberly, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Coberly continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Mark Chisenhall was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
SkyView Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Gilpin County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. SkyView Academy will play host again and welcome Clear Creek, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Clear Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday. As for Gilpin County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Denver Academy at 6:30 p.m.
