Gigi Khoury was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Erin Perez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Westminster Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Florida Christian posted their closest victory since April 1st on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out John Carroll Catholic 4-3. Four seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Serena Gillen spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Florida Christian's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Florida Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westminster Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westminster Christian suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Florida Christian in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
