The Dunbar Crimson Tide had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Poets 59-20 on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crimson Tide also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
The Crimson Tide got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emorean Thomas out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Thomas hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirstin Holt, who scored ten points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds.
The Crimson Tide have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for the Poets, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunbar will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Banneker at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Banneker is ranked tenth, while Dunbar is ranked second). As for Dunbar, they will head out on the road to square off against Western at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Western will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
