Softball Recap: Independence Has No Trouble Against Ridgeview

Independence won the last time they faced Ridgeview and things went their way on Friday too. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over the Wolf Pack. Considering the Falcons have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Maylea Lutu, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Ames, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Independence's record now sits at 9-12-1. As for Ridgeview, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Independence and Ridgeview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Falcons (ranked 552nd) will meet Highland (ranked 102nd) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ridgeview will square off against Stockdale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (899 vs. 96).
