The Orem Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Maple Mountain Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Orem will be strutting in after a win while Maple Mountain will be coming in after a loss.
Orem came out on top against Summit Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 17-run second inning. The Tigers never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ashton Belnap was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Belnap was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jaileigh DeMaria was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Cumorah Aiono was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Orem lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 6-1 when they post two or more home runs.
Meanwhile, Maple Mountain faced Spanish Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles fell just short of the Dons by a score of 7-5. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
McClain Carter made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brettlyn Walker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Orem has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Maple Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Orem hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Maple Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Orem suffered a grim 16-8 defeat to Maple Mountain when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
