The Lower Brule Sioux pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 73-55 fall against Pine Ridge. While losing is never fun, Lower Brule can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Pine Ridge is ranked second).
Pine Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Steele, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Jaylen Rouillard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Lower Brule's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Pine Ridge, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Lower Brule and Red Cloud will face off at 12:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Red Cloud focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Thursday.
