Basketball Recap: Chase Maddox Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Arlington Christian

Creekside Christian Academy lost to Arlington Christian back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Creekside Christian Academy Cougars came out on top against Arlington Christian by a score of 64-51. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Creekside Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Maddox, who went 8 for 12 en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Williams, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points.

Creekside Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Arlington Christian had strong showings from Chezi Essel, who went 6 for 12 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Khalib Brooks, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Essel is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Creekside Christian Academy's record now sits at 7-8. As for Arlington Christian, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3.

Creekside Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 84-42 victory against New Creation Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Arlington Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Excel Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Excel Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Arlington Christian likes a good challenge.
