On Friday, the South Fremont Cougars faced the Sugar-Salem Diggers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. South Fremont sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over Sugar-Salem. The victory was nothing new for South Fremont as they're now sitting on six straight.
Despite the loss, Sugar-Salem still got an impressive performance from Ashlyn Harris, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Andee Petterson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
South Fremont pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Sugar-Salem, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.
South Fremont will head out on the road to take on Teton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Teton is ranked sixth, while South Fremont is ranked 17th). As for Sugar-Salem, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ririe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
