Oostburg hasn't had much luck against Valders recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Flying Dutchmen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Valders took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oostburg, who comes in off a win.
Oostburg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cedar Grove-Belgium, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Flying Dutchmen were the clear victors by a 27-18 margin over the Rockets on Tuesday. The Flying Dutchmen not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 14-4).
Emmalee TenHaken was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Briley Behm, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oostburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Valders came up short against Brillion on Thursday and fell 7-2.
Valders saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Spindler, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Spindler has hit this season.
Valders' loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Oostburg, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oostburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Valders struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Oostburg might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Valders in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Flying Dutchmen have more luck at home instead of on the road?
