Jordyn Greever was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Huntingtown got a massive performance out of Madalee Hunley, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Hunley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Ripple, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Plata, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Great Mills on Friday.
Like Huntingtown, La Plata also got a great game from a two-way player: Rylee Dennison. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dennison was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Vivian Lloyd was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Madalyn Earnshaw also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
La Plata hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Huntingtown pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for La Plata, their record now sits at 10-7.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Huntingtown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like La Plata struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Huntingtown's way against La Plata in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Huntingtown made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
