Payson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Green Canyon Wolves on Saturday, sneaking past 54-51. The victory was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Payson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Swasey, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Legend Reynoso, who en route to 15 points.
Payson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Canyon only three offensive boards.
Despite the loss, Green Canyon still got an impressive performance from Jude Haigh, who to rack up 22 points and seven boards. Boston Horman was another key player, putting up ten points.
Payson's record now sits at 21-5. As for Green Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 25-2.
