Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Andy Retassie and Ethan Smith Lead North Star to Victory

North Star won the last time they faced Glendale and things went their way on Monday too. The North Star Cougars were the clear victor by a 57-37 margin over the Glendale Vikings. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Leading North Star to victory were Ethan Smith and Andy Retassie. Smith dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, while Retassie went 6 for 14 en route to 17 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. The matchup was Retassie's seventh in a row with at least ten points. JC Will also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: North Star was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale only racked up seven assists.

Glendale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Eckenrode, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Frowner, who scored nine points.

North Star is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Glendale, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

North Star wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-22 victory against Blacklick Valley on the 29th. Glendale has also already played their next contest, a 61-45 loss against DuBois Central Catholic on the 29th.
