The Baptist Hill Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. John. Baptist Hill has not had much luck with St. John's recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Baptist Hill lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sharice Blufton, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blufton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Malaya Hill, who scored six points along with seven steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John's to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaniya Smith, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and four steals. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennidra Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds.
Baptist Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for St. John's, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-6.
Baptist Hill will head out on the road to take on Lowcountry Leadership at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowcountry Leadership is on a four-game streak of home losses, Baptist Hill a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. St. John's will take on Military Magnet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Military Magnet Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully St. John's likes a good challenge.
