Artesia Gets a Boost from Cazares in 44-40 Loss
Starting off the list is Artesia's Izac Cazares, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Cazares threw for 245 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.
Artesia's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. Cazares' next matchup is against Goddard on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid effort.

Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Alfredo Andrade stepped things up a notch to give Gadsden the 'W'. Andrade turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
Andrade might have his next game, a road matchup with Santa Teresa, circled on his calendar. Andrade rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry the last time he and the Desert Warriors duked it out back in October of 2023.

Frankie Galindo Makes It Two for Artesia
The second Artesia player making an appearance here is Frankie Galindo, and for good reason. He picked up 117 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 48 yards and a touchdown. He showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 61 yards.
Galindo and Artesia will head out to square off against Goddard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Rockets, probably because Galindo had a solid game then too: he rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also caught a touchdown. Lovington had to settle for second on Friday, but Kyler Reaves sure wasn't going down easily. Reaves was dynamite, making 18 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.
Lovington's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. Reaves and Lovington will face off against Deming at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Adrian Munoz posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Friday. He rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 126 yards and a touchdown.
