Bingham is a perfect 7-0 against Mountain Ridge since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Miners will venture away from home to square off against the Sentinels at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bingham 2.5, Mountain Ridge 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bingham is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Herriman, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Bingham was ranked 16th). The Miners fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Miners couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge came tearing into Thursday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Chargers a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Red Brooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Mountain Ridge got a massive performance out of Kelli Christiansen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Tycksen, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Mountain Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Mountain Ridge pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bingham, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8-2.
Bingham took their win against Mountain Ridge when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Miners repeat their success, or do the Sentinels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
