The Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks will challenge the Broadwater Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Shores Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight defeats, while Broadwater Academy will come in with seven straight victories.
Atlantic Shores Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Christchurch School on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Seahorses by a score of 5-4.
Alyssa Marraccini put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 7.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Marraccini was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Marraccini wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Broadwater Academy put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Arcadia. The Vikings came out on top against the Firebirds by a score of 5-0.
The result came thanks to Ramsey Revelle's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miranda Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Broadwater Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Atlantic Shores Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Broadwater Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Atlantic Shores Christian might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Broadwater Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Seahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
